Ready to Die?

Bhaja Govindam opens with the idea of Death. It talks of what really will help us when death comes. Surely not what we have earned, bought or achieved. All that will be left back here. What will get carried forward is this mind. I like it or not, it will get carried along. But so strange that we spend so much of ourselves earning, achieving n buying, and invest so wee little of ourselves on minding the mind!! The one who is our constant companion today n will be our only take-along later, is a spoilt brat - drunken with desires, poisoned by negativities and maddened with weaknesses! Strange that we believe we can have a happy life and a peaceful death still!!

Think -
1)  Saints are slaves of the Lord, but Masters of their mind. We are Slaves of our mind, Masters of the Lord. (Constantly ordering HIM around asking for all sorts of things - Give this or give that - and HE obediently does!)
2) The only way to die peacefully is to live peacefully. If we live in agitations, fears and dependencies, death will be the saddest thing to happen to us.
3) It is important to earn and achieve. But nothing is worth losing the peace of mind.

Reminder - Often in driving when we use the rearview mirrors, it is said - things are closer than they appear to be.
In life too, Death is closer than it appears to be. Living prepared for a peaceful death at all times, is to live as a seeker.

Practice -
Dont lose your peace of mind for ANYTHING or ANYONE thats not going to matter to you on ur deathbed.

😊 Hari Om.
